Boston Beer Company is proud to share our third Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Report, which reflects on work from 2023 against our ESG goals. Check out the full report here!

This report is one tool to create transparency and communicate our accomplishments, challenges, impacts and insights with our stakeholders – including our coworkers. We're so proud of the work we did over the past year, and we’re optimistic about where it will bring us in the future. Take a look at some of our highlights from 2023 below!

Boston Beer 2023 ESG Highlights

Our Company & Governance

  • Formalized a three-year plan for our sustainability journey, mapping out key milestones such as setting ESG goals and targets
  • Established a formal cadence for engaging the Board of Directors around ESG topics
  • Responded to CDP’s Climate Change Questionnaire for the first time
  • Began meaningful dialogue with our suppliers on ESG issues, including incorporating ESG criteria into our requests for proposals and adding sustainability questions to our supplier quality audit tools

Our Planet

  • Completed a Scope 3 emissions playbook, which will serve as our roadmap to understand, manage and reduce our Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions and collect value chain data
  • Held our “Drinking in Mother Nature” event, inviting coworkers and community members to taste and learn more about four beers brewed with unique ingredients selected for sustainability
  • Progressed on energy, water and waste reduction initiatives
  • Hosted our second annual Sustainability Innovation Tournament, where coworkers pitched creative, actionable concepts to help us foster a more sustainable environment at Boston Beer

Our People

  • Expanded our focus on Inclusion and Belonging, including creating new curriculum to help coworkers understand ways they can help ensure Boston Beer is a company where everyone recognizes their value
  • Began disclosing salary pay ranges for existing and new jobs to increase pay transparency
  • Completed a draft three-year plan to improve health and safety programs across our business

Our Communities

  • Coworkers volunteered 99 hours of coaching to 1,200 small business owners through Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream
  • Launched the Brewing the American Dream Bootcamp, a four-week program to help food and beverage entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level
