Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats launches its third Benevolence Beer of 2024, in partnership with the Delaware Nature Society.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, Dogfish Head's Rehoboth brewpub, Brewings & Eats, will launch On A Wing & A Beer (7% ABV), its third Benevolence Beer of 2024, in collaboration with the Delaware Nature Society. This blonde stout was inspired by the variety of bird species that stop through Delaware during their migrations, as well as the insects that help pollinate the local plants. The beer's ingredients – coffee, cocoa, blueberries and bee balm – play a key role in contributing to the biodiversity and health of ecosystems by providing food, habitat, and pollination services, which are crucial for the survival of many bird and insect species. Coffee and cocoa were specifically chosen to represent the start of these migrations in South America, while blueberries and bee balm are native to Delaware.

On A Wing & A Beer will be available on draft for on-site consumption at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats and to-go in 4pk/16oz cans at Dogfish Head's Off-Centered EmPOURium in Rehoboth, while supplies last. Priced at $18 per 4pk. Cans also be available for purchase at the Delaware Nature Society's Music at the Mill Summer Concert on Aug. 8.

"As the 60th anniversary of the Delaware Nature Society approaches, we're honored to create 'On a Wing and a Beer,' to celebrate its work in protecting the environment and connecting people with nature," said Jake Leaf, Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats Head Brewer. "Inspired by the birds that migrate through Delaware and the insects that call it their home, we incorporated eco-friendly, bird-safe coffee and cocoa, along with native plants like blueberries and bee balm, which was grown and dried at the Nature Society's farm."

To coincide with the launch, Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats will host benevolence nights on Aug. 7 and 21, inviting guests to dine and/or drink in support of the Delaware Nature Society. Ten percent of all proceeds from both evenings will be donated to the local non-profit.

Dogfish Head and the Delaware Nature Society are also inviting folks to get their hands dirty and give back by participating in a Benevolence Day at Abbott's Mill on August 16, from 8-11:30 a.m. Volunteers will spend the morning clearing debris, cleaning up the trails and improving access for kayakers, ending the day enjoying some off-centered ales, of course! Those interested in volunteering can REGISTER HERE.

Stemming from the early days of Dogfish Head, its Beer & Benevolence® program is the brewery's way of giving back to the communities that have nourished its roots in coastal Delaware. Dogfish Head is proud to support the great work taking place in its home state by collaborating with nonprofit organizations to build community, amplify the arts and cultivate environmental stewardship. The brewery's Beer & Benevolence Beer Series takes its initiatives a step further, with the release of a series of four beers each year, each conceptualized and brewed with a different local non-profit and a portion of the beer's proceeds benefitting the collaborating organization.
